We have installed a retinal fundus camera which allows us to take photographs of the back of the eye (retina) and enables us to carry out a far more detailed examination than was previously possible.
The picture is taken in seconds using flash photography without using mydriatic drops. The images are then saved for future comparison.
Examining the retina allows us to examine the blood vessels and the optic nerve. This informs us about blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis and general eye health.
